Hi, I’m Kevin. I'm a Senior Software Engineer and Google Developer Expert in Angular and front-end development, and I have red-green color-blindness.

In a decade of developing software, I've gained a lot of experience and learned how to become effective and productive with development tools. The most essential tool for us software developer is an Integrated Development Environment or IDE.

In my long career, I have tried many IDEs, from plain Vim and Eclipse to Atom and VSCode. After evaluating these variations, I concluded that the Jetbrains IDEs are the most powerful and complete IDE for programming. There was just one thing missing, a beautiful aesthetic theme!

Here's why I created and use Skol

I wanted to create a theme that is aestetic, easy on the eyes and fun to use.

Color blindness

As a developer with red-green colour-blindness, I wanted a theme that looks great but also easily allows me to read and not misinterpret my code.

Presentations

As a Google Developer expert, I present my screen to other developers during pair programming, live talks, and video tutorials. Videos and talks are far more successful if the IDE is nicely themed and the code is clearly readable.

Focus

I like a clean one dark UI with as little noise as possible. This clean look and simple feel helps me focus while coding.

Semantic meaning

Skol is focused on semantic meaning over color variations. Fewer colors give me the ability to scan my code easily, quickly, and more precisely.
